In September 2012, Scott testified at a “roundtable” established pursuant to an Executive Order issued by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley to address distribution utility infrastructure issues. Scott discussed the “human infrastructure” needs of Maryland’s utilities, and the relationship between adequate staffing and service quality and reliability. Scott’s remarks focused on concerns about utility workforce “graying” and the importance of investigating how the state’s utilities are responding to this concern.
The September 24, 2012 “Grid Resiliency Task Force” report to the Governor recommends that the Maryland Public Service Commission commence an investigation “aimed at studying and addressing various issues relating to the utilities’ human infrastructure, including the so-called “graying” utility workforce.” The Report can be found by clicking the link below.
