Spiegel & McDiarmid Defends Local Zoning Plan Against LNG Complex

June 25, 2012

Spiegel & McDiarmid filed a brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, defending a local zoning plan against a Liquefied Natural Gas complex. Washington Gas Light Company, claiming federal preemption and state law zoning immunity, seeks to build an LNG storage facility in a stream valley that Prince George’s County, Maryland has zoned for parkland as part of a transit-oriented development plan.  The County prevailed on all points before the U.S. District Court for Maryland, and is now defending that ruling on appeal.
